What is Shiftdesk?
Shiftdesk is a web-based workforce management platform for shift-based companies in the DACH region. You can create shift schedules, track working hours, manage absences and view working-time compliance notes under the German Working Hours Act (ArbZG) β all in one app. See all features at a glance.
Which companies is Shiftdesk suited for?
Shiftdesk is aimed at small and medium-sized businesses (5β100 employees) with shift work β for example hospitality, retail, care, trades, logistics and manufacturing.
Is there a mobile app?
Yes. The Shiftdesk app for employees is available natively for iOS and Android β view the schedule, swap shifts, clock time and write in the team chat. It's free on the Apple App Store and Google Play.
Is there a tablet app (clock-in terminal)?
Yes. With Shiftdesk Terminal, an iPad or Android tablet becomes a shared time clock at the location: employees clock in with a personal PIN, with no account of their own. The app is available on the Apple App Store and Google Play.
What languages is Shiftdesk available in?
Shiftdesk is currently fully available in German and tailored to the DACH region (Germany, Austria, Switzerland).
Pricing & subscription
How much does Shiftdesk cost?
Shiftdesk offers three plans: Basic from β¬25/month (6 employees included), Pro from β¬45/month (12 employees included) and Enterprise from β¬120/month (30 employees included). All prices are net plus VAT. You'll find the details on our pricing page.
Is there a free trial?
Yes! You can try Shiftdesk free for 14 days β no credit card and no commitment. During the trial you have access to all features.
Can I cancel monthly?
Yes, all plans can be canceled monthly. There's no minimum term. With annual billing you save about 16% (2 months free). More on the pricing page.
What happens after the trial?
If you haven't added a payment method after 14 days, your subscription is paused automatically. Your data is preserved β you can pick up again at any time by choosing a plan.
Data protection & security
Is Shiftdesk built on GDPR principles?
Shiftdesk was built on privacy-by-design principles from the start. All data is hosted in Frankfurt (EU) and transmitted and stored encrypted. For B2B customers, a data processing agreement (DPA) under Art. 28 GDPR is available. The final GDPR assessment in each deployment context (e.g. legal bases, works council involvement, internal permissions) rests with the customer as the controller. Details under Privacy and DPA.
Where is my data stored?
All data is stored at Supabase in the Frankfurt region (fra1). The application is served via Vercel (also Frankfurt). Primary data storage takes place in the EU.
How secure is Shiftdesk?
Shiftdesk uses 256-bit TLS encryption, tenant isolation in the database, two-factor authentication (TOTP) and role-based access control with 5 permission levels.
Features
Does Shiftdesk support the German Working Hours Act (ArbZG)?
Yes. Shiftdesk automatically shows notes on rest periods (min. 11 h), maximum daily working time (max. 10 h), weekly hours (max. 48 h) and break rules under ArbZG Β§ 4. In case of violations, warning notes appear immediately in the schedule.
Can I create DATEV exports with Shiftdesk?
Yes, on the Pro plan and above. Shiftdesk creates DATEV-compatible CSV files for direct handover to your tax advisor β including wage-type mapping and cost centers.
Does Shiftdesk support multiple locations?
Yes. Up to 3 locations on the Basic plan, unlimited from Pro. Each location has its own departments, teams and schedules. Compare the plans.
Is there a public API?
Yes, on the Enterprise plan. You get REST API access with API keys, individual permissions and rate limiting for your own integrations.
Partner program
Is there a partner program?
Yes. Through the Shiftdesk Partner Program you recommend Shiftdesk with a personal referral link and earn a recurring commission for every paying customer you refer.
Who can become a Shiftdesk partner?
The program is aimed at tax advisors, payroll offices, agencies, business consultants, creators and industry portals with contact to shift-based companies. Every application is reviewed individually.
How does compensation work in the partner program?
You earn a commission on the invoices actually paid by the customers you refer β the specific model is stated in your approved partner profile. Billing is monthly via credit note with a sequential number (incl. e-invoice), paid out from β¬50 by bank transfer. Details on the Partner Program page.
How do I apply for the partner program?
Through the form at shiftdesk.app/partnerprogramm. We review every application personally and usually get back to you within a few business days.
