Submitting an absence request

As an employee, you can create vacation and other absences directly in self-service, without having to write an email to HR.

Step by step

  1. In the dashboard, go to Absences.
  2. Click the Record absence button. A form opens.
  3. Fill in the required fields:
- Employee: your name (preselected if you can only see yourself). - Type: Vacation, Sick, Unpaid leave, Special leave, or Other. - From and To: start and end day of the absence.
  1. Optionally, you can add a Note, such as "Family vacation".
  2. Click Record.

What happens after submitting?

  • The request is added to the All absences table with the status Requested.
  • The number of days is calculated automatically.
  • Managers and admins in your organization see the request immediately and get the note "X open requests" at the top of the page.
  • You receive a confirmation (toast) in the browser.

Track the status

You can see the current state in the Status column:

  • Requested β€” awaiting the manager's decision.
  • Approved β€” the vacation is booked.
  • Rejected β€” with a reason, if provided.
  • Cancelled β€” you or your manager withdrew the request.

Withdraw a request

As long as the request is still Requested or already Approved, you can withdraw it via Cancel in the actions column. For approved vacation, the days are automatically credited back to the vacation account.
