The kiosk PIN
The kiosk PIN is a personal, 4-digit number that employees use to identify themselves at the tablet time clock.
Where does an employee get their PIN?
- Themselves via the app: under Settings β My PIN, the current PIN is shown or a new one is generated.
- Via the admin: in the employee profile, an administrator can generate a PIN and share it with the employee.
Regenerating the PIN
If the PIN is unknown or should be changed, the employee (app) or the admin (profile) generates a new PIN. The old one immediately becomes invalid.
In the employee profile, the admin can also see whether the employee has already retrieved their PIN β handy for tracking who is ready for the terminal.
Security
- The PIN is never stored in plain text, only as a hash.
- After several failed attempts at the terminal, input is temporarily locked.
- Every employee has their own PIN β so every booking is uniquely attributable.
Tip
Employees without a smartphone are best given their PIN directly by the admin from the employee profile. Related: Creating and inviting employees.
