Clocking in/out with the Shiftdesk mobile app
With the Shiftdesk mobile app, you clock your working time directly from your smartphone. The app is the main way to record your actual working times in the clockbased or hybrid mode.
Clocking in
- Open the Shiftdesk app and sign in.
- On the home screen you see your next scheduled shift.
- Swipe the large CLOCK IN button to the right. The swipe prevents accidental clocking.
- The app optionally captures your position via GPS if your location requires it.
- A short vibration confirms the successful clock-in.
Starting and ending a break
While you are clocked in, the app shows a running clock. Tap Start break to record a break. With End break you resume work. Depending on your company's break mode, breaks are taken into account automatically or manually — see Break modes.
Clocking out
At the end of your shift, swipe the CLOCK OUT button to the right. The app saves your working time and sends it to the server.
GPS and geofence
If your employer requires GPS, the app checks whether you are within the allowed radius (e.g. 200 m) around the location. If you are outside, you cannot clock and you receive an error message with the distance.
What happens in the background
- Each clocking action is stored as an immutable clock event (audit trail).
- From this, Shiftdesk creates a time entry with the status pending.
- The entry may be snapped to the scheduled shift — see Snap-to-shift and rounding.
- For offline clocking, the events are stored locally and synced automatically as soon as you are online again.
Tip
