Creating shifts in the schedule
Creating shifts in the schedule
In the schedule you create shifts directly by clicking an empty cell in the week or month view. Shiftdesk guides you through the dialog step by step.
How to proceed
- Go to Schedule in the left-hand navigation.
- Choose the view you want in the top right (Week, Month or Day).
- Click an empty cell in the employee's row and the column of the day you want.
- In the New shift dialog you either choose a template or create the shift manually.
Fields in the dialog
| Field | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Template | Predefined shift pattern with time, break, color and department |
| Start time / End time | Beginning and end of the shift in 24-hour format |
| Break | Planned break in minutes, set automatically by the template |
| Department | Associated department or location |
| Note | Optional notes for the employee |
| Minimum staffing | Required number of employees for the shift |
Tips
- Templates save time and avoid typos. More on this under Shift templates.
- A newly created shift initially has the status Draft. The employee only sees it once it has been published. See Publishing shifts.
- If a shift breaks working hours rules, Shiftdesk shows a warning right away. Details under ArbZG warnings.
- Using drag & drop you can later move a shift to a different day or employee.
