Publishing shifts (draft -> published)
Publishing shifts
Every new shift in Shiftdesk initially has the status Draft. Only when it is published does it become visible and binding for employees.
Status concept
| Status | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Draft | Visible to managers only, freely editable, no notification |
| Published | Visible to employees, counts as binding, changes are logged |
Publishing shifts
- Go to Schedule and choose the period you want.
- Click Publish in the top right.
- In the dialog you see a preview of all drafts in the period.
- Optionally, narrow the selection to department or employee.
- Confirm with Publish now.
What happens after publishing
- Employees receive a push or email notification, depending on their settings.
- The shifts appear in the employee app and on the employee dashboard.
- Changes to published shifts trigger another notification.
- Deleting a published shift is logged in the audit log.
Tips
- Publish the whole week at once where possible; this avoids frequent notifications.
- Before publishing, check open ArbZG warnings and the minimum staffing.
- For changes to a shift that has already been published, briefly note the reason in the note field; this creates transparency.
- Schedules published early make it easier for employees to plan their private lives. A lead time of two weeks is common in many industries.
